Analysis:From the demographic profile, we considered that the audience for our music video would be mostly female, therefore we asked only females to answer our questionnaire. When it came to considering the age range of our demographic, we decided to focus our questionnaire towards 18 and older, as this is what we believe the majority of the age range of our target audience to be. From the results, we saw that Adele was the highest scoring for most popular artists, reflecting that female pop/indie is popular within our demographic. This can be reflected in question 4, as the artist is known for attracting fans to gigs and performing live, as opposed to lip syncing. Our results clearly represent that the majority of people in our demographic choose to download music, but they also enjoy buying the album perhaps because they enjoy having the actual album and keeping it for the sentimental value. We also decided to play our target audience an extract from our chosen song and from this we asked for what they would expect to conventionally appear in the music video. The feedback we received was that although some of our audience expected to see instruments and narrative, most of them answered that they would prefer more concentration on the artist as the song is more emotionally profound and therefore fans expect a degree of personal attachment from the artist. For this reason, we felt that it was important and very effective that we used plenty of close ups of our artist.

Institution Research

The reason we chose to sign our artist to XL recordings is because the other bands on the label were to a similar style as our artist, in the sense that they were also alternative, yet quite commercial.
Some of these artists included Adele (which is quite a similar artist to Ally) and Radiohead, who are quite experimental and electric rock. Therefore the record label has a very broad variety, but all signed to it are similar in the sense that, they are well known, however they have not been commercialised and almost violated by the media, such as 'Girls Aloud' or other mainstream acts.
The now sole owner of the group Richard Russell has recently broadened the musical horizons of the label however he has still maintained a credo of working as he only signs artists he views as original and inventive.
In 2003 the label won the Music Week A&R award and In 2009 the label won the " Best Independent Label award".

Audeience Profile

Females are more likely to be attracted to our artist, rather than men, as the genre of music appeals more to them. This is because most of the context of the song is quite feminine and emotional; singing about love and relationships.
Although the look of our artist may be appealing to men, the actual music would probably not.
We expect anyone between the ages of 18-30 to listen to our artist however because of the connotations behind the song it could be relevant to anybody who has experienced a relationship. We feel that people under the age of 18 may like the song, however wouldn’t understand or be able to relate to the meaning.
The fact that our artist is quite young and ‘Soon We’ll Be Found’ is her first single means that people will feel that they are with her from the beginning of her career. This is similar to artists such as ‘Duffy’ who also began in a similar way.
The genre of music of our artist is Indie/Pop, therefore we expect audiences with a commercial taste in music to listen to her. This is because in recent years, Indie music has become more mainstream and popular.
We expect our artist to be accessed through internet downloads, however we also think that the type of person who would listen to our artist would also appreciate having the album.
The type of people who would listen to Ally Sanders, would regularly attend intimate gigs of local bands. They are also the type of people who would go to festivals such as Reading and Glastonbury.
We think that our audience would probably draw inspiration from the artists that they would listen to. We think their stereotypical style would be ‘indie’ and ‘preppy’ and would shop in high street stores such as ‘Topshop’ and ‘Urban Outfitters’.
